Lines & Wrinkles consultations in Milton Keynes
Thoughtfully considered. Always with you in mind.
You don’t need to arrive knowing which treatment to ask for. Whether you’ve noticed facial lines or changes in the appearance of your jawline or neck, your consultation is a chance to understand your options.
At Aesthetique by Equaligne, my private, nurse-led aesthetic clinic in Brooklands, Milton Keynes, I take time to understand what matters to you. We’ll discuss your concerns, assess your individual features and explore what may be appropriate—with honest advice and no pressure to go ahead.

A personal approach to your concerns
Your face is individual, and your care should reflect that. I consider your features, facial movement and overall balance alongside what you hope to achieve.
Concerns we can discuss include:
facial lines
the appearance of the jawline and lower face
visible neck lines or bands
excessive underarm sweating
Different concerns need different approaches. We’ll talk about what may be contributing to the changes you’ve noticed, what treatment can realistically achieve and where its limitations lie. Sometimes, another approach—or choosing not to have treatment—is the better option.
Understanding your options
Lines and wrinkles can be influenced by facial movement, changes in the skin and other individual factors. There isn’t one treatment that addresses every concern.
Your consultation may include a discussion of skin care, other aesthetic options or whether a prescription treatment could be appropriate.
Where botulinum toxin is considered, it is a prescription-only medicine that temporarily reduces activity in selected muscles. It is not suitable for everyone. The prescriber will assess whether its use is appropriate for you and explain the relevant benefits, limitations and risks.
You’ll receive information about the specific product and proposed treatment before deciding.
Your questions, answered
Will I have treatment at my first appointment?
Your first appointment will be a consultation. The injectable option discussed on this page requires a prescription, so you will be seen face to face by a qualified prescriber before any prescription is issued.
The prescriber will review your health history, medicines, allergies and previous treatments, assess your concerns and decide whether treatment is appropriate. You’ll have the opportunity to discuss expected outcomes, possible side effects, alternatives and any questions.
If treatment is agreed, we’ll explain the arrangements for your treatment appointment and confirm the costs beforehand. A consultation does not guarantee a prescription, and you are under no obligation to proceed.
What results can I expect?
Your assessment will help us discuss what may realistically be achievable for your individual features.
Results vary. Treatment cannot guarantee complete removal of lines, perfect symmetry or a particular change in appearance. Some concerns may respond better to another approach.
The expected onset, duration and review arrangements will be explained for your proposed treatment. Changes can develop gradually, so an early impression may not reflect the final response.
Will treatment be uncomfortable?
Fine needles are used, and you may feel brief stinging or pinching at the injection sites. Sensitivity varies between people and treatment areas.
Please tell me if you are anxious about needles or have previously felt faint during a procedure. We can take our time, discuss appropriate comfort measures and pause if needed.
Is there any downtime?
Many people can return to light, everyday activities after treatment, but visible marks and side effects can occur.
Small areas of redness, swelling or tenderness may settle relatively quickly. Bruising can take around one to two weeks to fade, and sometimes longer.
Allowing approximately two weeks for possible bruising is sensible when planning your diary. This does not mean you should expect two weeks away from work or normal activities, and it is not a guarantee that every side effect will have resolved within that time.
I have an event coming up. When should I book?
Please tell me your event date before booking.
Allow time for the consultation, prescribing arrangements, treatment, possible bruising and your two-week review. For an important occasion, leaving more than two weeks after treatment provides additional flexibility, particularly if this is your first experience.
A review may lead to advice to wait longer rather than have further treatment. Any additional procedure may also cause fresh marks or bruising.
I would avoid scheduling a new treatment immediately before a wedding, holiday or other important event.
What are the possible risks and side effects?
Every treatment carries risks. Their likelihood depends on the product, dose, treatment area and your health.
Possible effects include:
Injection-site pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, bleeding, bruising, itching, tingling or reduced sensation.
Headache, nausea, tiredness, flu-like symptoms, dizziness or fainting.
Local infection.
Eyelid or eyebrow drooping, heaviness, uneven brow position or facial asymmetry.
Dry eyes, eyelid swelling or blurred vision.
Unwanted muscle weakness, altered facial movement, muscle twitching or reduced muscle bulk.
Allergic reactions, including rash, hives, swelling or, rarely, a severe reaction.
Very rare spread of toxin effects beyond the injection area, potentially causing widespread weakness, speech, swallowing or breathing difficulties. This can be life-threatening.
Area-specific risks also need discussion, particularly for the lower face or neck. These can include changes affecting your smile, chewing or neck strength.
An unsatisfactory result, little response or reduced response over time is also possible.
This is an overview, not an exhaustive list. Please read the leaflet for your prescribed medicine and discuss your individual risks with the prescriber.
How should I prepare?
Bring details of your medicines, supplements, allergies and previous aesthetic treatments, including when and where you last received injections.
Tell us if you:
Are pregnant, breastfeeding or think you may be pregnant.
Have a condition affecting your nerves or muscles.
Have experienced swallowing or breathing difficulties.
Have a bleeding disorder or take medicines that affect bleeding.
Have an infection, inflammation or irritation near the proposed treatment area.
Have previously had an unexpected reaction to an injectable treatment.
Do not stop prescribed medicines or supplements recommended by your clinician simply to reduce bruising. Speak with the clinician responsible for them first.
Arrive with clean skin where possible, and let me know about any changes in your health before the appointment.
What aftercare should I follow?
You’ll receive written instructions tailored to your treatment. Please follow those instructions alongside the patient leaflet for your prescribed medicine.
Immediately afterwards
Leave the injection sites alone. Avoid rubbing, massaging or applying firm pressure to the treated areas.
Keep your hands clean and avoid applying makeup directly over fresh injection sites. Follow the advice given at your appointment about when to restart makeup and skincare.
During the first 24 hour
Avoid strenuous exercise. Gentle everyday activity is generally reasonable if you feel well.
Continue to avoid facial massage and vigorous rubbing. Cleanse gently when advised and pat the skin dry.
If your skin feels irritated, keep skincare simple and avoid products that sting, scrubs or strong exfoliants until it has settled.
Heat, alcohol and other treatments
Ask about your plans for alcohol, saunas, steam rooms or hot exercise classes. You may be advised to avoid these temporarily, particularly where bruising, redness or swelling is a concern.
Check with me before arranging facials, facial massage, microneedling, peels or other procedures around the same time. Suitable spacing depends on the treatments and areas involved.
If you feel sore or notice bruising
Contact the clinic if you need advice about discomfort or bruising. A pharmacist can advise on a suitable painkiller based on your health and other medicines.
Do not massage a bruise or try to correct an uneven appearance yourself.
Driving and daily activities
Do not drive or operate machinery if you develop blurred vision, drooping eyelids that affect your sight, dizziness or muscle weakness. Seek advice.
Over the following days
Changes may develop gradually and unevenly at first. Keep your review appointment, but contact the clinic sooner if you are worried.
Worsening pain, spreading redness, increasing warmth, discharge or fever need prompt assessment. Do not wait for your routine review.
What happens at my two-week review?
Your review is planned for approximately two weeks after treatment.
We’ll discuss how you have felt, check for side effects and assess your response at rest and during facial movement. Where appropriate, we’ll compare this with your assessment photographs and original goals.
Some effects may still be developing. The safest next step may be to allow more time and arrange a later assessment.
A review does not automatically include additional injections. Any further treatment requires a clinical decision, appropriate prescribing and consideration of the product guidance, dose and interval between treatments.
Please contact the clinic before the review if you develop symptoms or have concerns—you do not need to wait two weeks to ask for help.
What if treatment isn’t suitable for me?
I’ll explain the reason clearly and help you understand your options.
Sometimes treatment needs to be postponed—for example, because of an infection, a change in health or the need for further assessment. In other situations, your concerns may be unlikely to improve with the treatment you had in mind.
Depending on your assessment, we can discuss:
A skincare approach suited to your concerns.
Whether another aesthetic treatment may be appropriate.
Allowing more time before deciding.
Advice from your GP or another suitable professional.
Choosing not to have treatment.
Alternatives carry their own risks and are not automatically suitable or equivalent. You’ll receive the same care and attention whether or not you go ahead.
Important safety information
Seek emergency help immediately
Following botulinum toxin treatment, call 999 if you develop difficulty breathing, swallowing or speaking, or rapidly worsening, widespread muscle weakness.
Swelling of the tongue, lips or throat, wheezing or collapse may indicate a severe allergic reaction and also require emergency help.
Tell the emergency team that you have received botulinum toxin, when it was given and the product name if you know it. Symptoms of toxin spread may develop hours, days or weeks after treatment.
Do not wait for a clinic reply or your review appointment.
Get prompt advice about other concerns
Contact the clinic promptly for unexpected or worsening symptoms, such as eyelid drooping, persistent eye irritation, changes in your smile, chewing difficulty or neck weakness.
New double or blurred vision, eye pain or difficulty closing an eye need urgent assessment. If the clinic is unavailable, contact NHS 111 or an appropriate urgent-care service.
Suspected side effects can also be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Reporting does not replace seeking care.
Let’s start with a conversation
A question, a concern or simply a little curiosity—you don’t need to have everything worked out before getting in touch.
I’m here to help you understand your options and make a decision you feel comfortable with.
